Our Story

We met at a bar in Williamsburg only about a mile south of The Wythe on Thursday, March 12, 2020. As you could imagine, we talked about what everyone was talking about in March of 2020: vampires, disco music, and the Food Network star Rocco DiSpirito, amongst other things. Needless to say, we quickly hit it off.

We had three dates before the world properly shut down, and Frances left New York for California for two months. During that time, we watched Temptation Island virtually, got a peek into childhood bedrooms and homelife, Emily shared her favorite poems, Frances gave a presentation on Dragonvale, and both downloaded the settlers of catan app. With each message or virtual date, we continued to grow a deeper understanding of one another, even while miles and miles away.

Once reunited in New York, it was a lot of themed parties for two (COVID days, if you recall), board games, park dates, and watching sunsets on the roof of Emily’s bushwick apartment, fireworks going off at any hour of the night. It wasn’t long before we met each other’s friends, sharing meals and stories, learning all that we could about each other, and slowly merging our two separate lives into one.

Since those days, we’ve shared three apartments, two couches, and one Garbanzo. We’ve traveled together and with each other’s families, from wine tasting in Napa and Traverse city, to the Olympics in France, to a weird company holiday in Mexico we can’t talk about, all the way to playing groupie for Boygenius + MUNA in London with our friend Lauren. We’ve enthusiastically hosted halloween parties and themed birthday bashes, often inspired by TV shows we’ve found ourselves completely obsessed with. It may have led to some tiki torches lit inside for a rousing game of survivor, but what your landlord doesn’t know, doesn’t hurt him.

As the years pass, we continue to learn more about one another and ourselves. Since we first met, Fran discovered a love for Jets ranch dressing, how to cross over on ice skates, and every line of dialogue in the S1 ep14 New Years Eve episode of The OC, and Emily learned how to ski, the best wig for her face shape, and to appreciate the deliciousness of an Aperol Spritz.

We are excited for all that will come in the future, and can’t wait to have you all here with us on this special day!
